Fugro GEOS consultants aim to bridge the gap between the meteorological and oceanographic specialists and offshore
engineers and other end users of data to provide meaningful products and interpretation. Knowledge of regional
oceanography, offshore engineering, classification society codes and local legislation provides them with all
the tools required to deliver concise accurate information in a format that is readily used by clients.
The main services offered include:
- Comprehensive design criteria based on detailed analysis of the most appropriate data sources for a given region and engineering solution
- Operational statistics to support applications including seismic, exploration, tow route, installation, pipe and cable laying, and decommissioning operations
- Provision of high quality wind and wave data through our WorldWaves global database. Derived statistical products will soon be available through a dedicated website
- Client data management including quality control and analysis using in-house software. This service is available to clients via a secure Internet link allowing data search and display.
- Bespoke analyses to meet non standard client requirements

Examples of tools and techniques used to provide the above services include:
- Weather Windows analysis using proprietary software to quantify the impact of weather downtime during offshore operations.
- Simple vessel and structural response models to allow most critical metocean conditions to be identified and characterised
- Characterisation of metocean processes to provide appropriate inputs to engineering tools (e.g. deepwater current profile characterisation)
- Consideration of joint probability through environmental contours for a given return period (e.g. wave height versus period)
- Directional wave spectral partitioning and fitting to provide industry standard spectral parameters
- Wave energy resource mapping to support applications for funding and development of wave energy projects.
- Mike-21 for coastal and shallow water environments to provide water level, current and wave data; complemented by validation data supplied by the measurement division and wind forcing and wave boundary conditions provided by WorldWaves.
