Fugro GEOS believes in supporting and investing in education: to broaden the awareness of oceanography and meteorology in
the educational sector, to attract students into this sector, to encourage those already pursuing it and to highlight
future career prospects to students.
Through its partnerships and collaboration with various marine science institutions, Fugro GEOS is able to develop alliances
with their members and the marine science community, and thereby contribute to the sustainability of the community through
possible future employment.
IMarEST Undergraduate Awards
A new annual Undergraduate Award Scheme for final year students studying physical oceanography, applied oceanography and/or
meteorology has been launched by Fugro GEOS and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
The competitive award scheme, open to student members of IMarEST enrolled on a full-time course at a UK University or College,
is based on a single payment of up to £500 to the winning student.

SUT Postgraduate Awards
As well as contributing to the SUT's Educational Support Fund, Fugro GEOS offers an annual award, through the learned society,
for the best project or thesis work in physical oceanography, applied oceanography and/or meteorology. This award, of £500 is
made available to final year MSc students.

BSc Bursaries
Fugro GEOS UK also runs a successful annual BSc & MSc Bursary programme, in collaboration with Bangor, Southampton & Plymouth Universities.
The programme involves:
- Paid -summer work for 6 - 8 weeks
- Paid accommodation throughout the 6 - 8 weeks
- £750 bursary
Some of these bursary awards have successfully led to full employment, after graduation.
MSc Projects
The MSc research project is a significant component of the MSc programme, where students
gain experience by conducting full-time research on a topic at the forefront of oceanography.
Fugro GEOS UK in consultation with its clients offer students the opportunity to work on an existing client contract.
Project criteria are communicated to the universities, inviting students to apply. The universities in consultation
with Fugro GEOS UK manage the application and selection criteria.
Participating universities are: Bangor, Southampton & Plymouth Universities
Other MSc work experience programmes offered by Fugro GEOS UK include, an annual 3-month programme with L'ISITV - Institut des Sciences
de l'Ingénieur de Toulon et du Var.
