Fugro Global Environmental & Ocean Sciences Timeline

    1928 - Wimpey Laboratories
Fugro GEOS evolved from Wimpey Laboratories, which was first established by George Wimpey in the 1920's.
Wimpol - 1978
Wimpey Laboratories was re-organised in 1978 and Wimpol formed, with the Marine Environmental Sciences (MES) division being responsible for all metocean work
   
    1990 - WEIL
MES division was restructured in 1990, first to Wimpey Environmental Limited and subsequently Wimpey Environmental International Limited (WEIL). This combined the MES division of Wimpol with the land and air sciences divisions of Wimpey Laboratories.
GEOS - 1994
In 1994 Global Environmental and Ocean Sciences (GEOS) was established as a joint venture company held by the Wimpey and Fugro Groups. The GEOS joint venture rapidly became the focal point for oceanographic consultancy and survey services for both parent companies
   
    1996 - Fugro GEOS
In 1996 the company became Fugro GEOS, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Fugro Group.
Fugro GEOS - 1998
Further acquisitions in 1997 of the oceanographic division of Paras enhanced Fugro GEOS capabilities in the provision of metocean consultancy services in the Marine Consultancy division
   
    1999 - Fugro GEOS
Marine Weather Services in Singapore acquired in 1999, becoming the Marine Weather Services division and giving Fugro GEOS offshore weather forecasting capabilities.
Fugro GEOS - 2000
The marine weather forecast division of International Aeradio (Emirates) LLC (IAL) acquired in 2000, expanding Fugro GEOS existing weather forecasting capabilities into the Gulf, Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman
   
    2002 - Fugro GEOS
InstallOcean in the UK is acquired in March 2002 enhancing the Company's real-time systems capabilities.
Fugro GEOS - 2002
The marine weather services unit of Noble Denton Europe is acquired in March 2002, expanding Fugro GEOS' existing weather forecasting capabilities into the north-west of Europe
   
    2003 - Fugro GEOS
The acquisition of OCEANOR - The Oceanographic company of Norway - broadens the scope of Fugro GEOS' presence in the real-time marine monitoring and information systems market.
Fugro GEOS - 2004
Thales GeoSolutions Metocean Division integrated with Fugro GEOS, as a result of the acqusition by Fugro Group of Thales GeoSolutions Group.
   
    2005 - Fugro GEOS
Integration of Fugro Structural Monitoring with Fugro GEOS
Fugro GEOS - 2008
Opening of the Perth office in Australia.
